Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Torrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Justin Hopkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jerry Torrada!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hopkins controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Torrada controls Hopkins momentarily but Hopkins frees himself.
Torrada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hopkins is one step ahead there.

Torrada is looking to stand up but Hopkins won't let him.

Torrada wants to control from the top but Hopkins keeps moving.

Torrada is looking to improve his position but Hopkins isn't that keen on the idea.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hopkins has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Torrada's face.

Torrada swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Hopkins tries to close the distance and clinch but Torrada swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Torrada can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hopkins is looking to escape.
Torrada avoids the attempt from Hopkins to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Torrada is landing with some decent strikes but Hopkins is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Jerry Torrada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Hopkins doesn't manage to clinch there - Torrada circles away.
Torrada rushes Hopkins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Torrada is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Torrada lands with a right to the head.
Torrada tries to stall but Hopkins uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Torrada drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hopkins gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hopkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Torrada on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Torrada throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hopkins.
Torrada doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hopkins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Justin Hopkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Torrada.
