PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bret George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Pablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pablo is looking to clinch.
Pablo throws a nice outside leg kick.
George avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
George throws a nice looking combination but Pablo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
George shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pablo as he jumps to the side.

Pablo scores a takedown into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
George is looking to improve his position but Pablo isn't that keen on the idea.

Pablo stands up from mount. Strange move.

George feints and as Pablo raises his hands in defense, George changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pablo wants to hit a switch here but George passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pablo there!
Pablo is looking to get to half guard.

George unloads with some shots from mount but Pablo bucks and avoids them well.
George really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pablo tries to buck George off but he can't manage it.
Pablo is looking to improve his position but George isn't that keen on the idea.
George tries to control but Pablo wriggling away.
George knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pablo on the ground.
George won't let Pablo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
George can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pablo is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

George manages to capitalize on a mistake by Pablo to take his back!

Pablo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
George throws a wild left hand from mount and Pablo manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Pablo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Pablo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes George off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

George breaks from the clinch.

Pablo lands with a thumping leg kick.
George is breathing heavily.
George swats away the attempt to clinch by Pablo.
Pablo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of George's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pablo drives through with a takedown into guard.

Pablo stands and steps away. George gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

George tries to keep at a distance but Pablo has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pablo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pablo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Juan Pablo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pablo throws a sloppy head kick and George moves out of range easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A nice leg kick lands there from Pablo.
Pablo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. George looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Pablo moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Pablo dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

George circles away from the clinch attempt.

Pablo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pablo gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Pablo fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches George on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pablo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by George.
Pablo darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

A left lands for Pablo.
Pablo tries a head kick but it misses.
Pablo lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Pablo closes the distance and clinches.

Pablo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pablo lands a really nice looking cross but George seems unphased.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pablo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Pablo drops George with a left right combo! Pablo follows him down to the ground into side control.

George is rocked!

Pablo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Pablo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Oh George is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pablo connects with a superb combination that knocks George out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Pablo before he can land any more shots to the unconscious George!
