Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Bravo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Riformato! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bravo shoots for a double leg takedown but Riformato sprawls well. He's pushed Bravo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bravo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Riformato. Riformato tries to clinch up but Bravo circles away and keeps his distance. Riformato misses with a takedown and Bravo counters with a nice double leg into guard. Riformato had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bravo defends it easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bravo won't allow Riformato to sweep him here. Bravo drops back looking for a leg! Riformato is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Riformato manages to kick Bravo off! Bravo jumps back into Riformato's guard. Bravo wants to pass the guard but Riformato is keeping the position. Riformato trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Riformato is trying to control the position but Bravo postures up. Bravo stands up over Riformato, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bravo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Bravo looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bravo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bravo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Riformato manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bravo has Riformato in his guard. Bravo looking for a guillotine here but Riformato defends easily.
Bravo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riformato accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bravo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Riformato defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riformato postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bravo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bravo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bravo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Riformato defends well. Riformato is sitting in close to Bravo's body. Bravo has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Riformato is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Riformato is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bravo.
