Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noryuki Takahashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Palmer Collins! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Collins tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Takahashi swivels and escapes. Takahashi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Collins to score an easy takedown into full guard. Collins thows a big elbow that misses. Collins sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Takahashi's guard. Collins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Collins not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Takahashi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Takahashi is working hard here to advance position. Collins is looking for a kimura but Takahashi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Collins to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins passes to full mount! Collins working for a guillotine from mount but Takahashi is in no mood to give up. Collins is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Takahashi is surviving well by controlling Collins's body position as best he can. Takahashi is looking to get to half guard. Takahashi tries to hold on but Collins postures up. Collins throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Takahashi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Collins on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Collins is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Takahashi is surviving well by controlling Collins's body position as best he can. Takahashi tries to lock up and control but Collins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Collins thowing shots but they're missing. Collins working for a guillotine from mount but Takahashi is in no mood to give up. Collins looks gassed! Takahashi is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Collins is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Takahashi has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Takahashi! Takahashi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Takahashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Collins swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takahashi wants to get up but he can't break Collins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Collins keeping moving, preventing Takahashi from controlling successfully. Takahashi wants to stand but Collins is controlling his posture from full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Takahashi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Collins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Takahashi has managed to get both his arms back between Collins's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Palmer Collins dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Takahashi looks to land a combination but Collins avoids it well. Takahashi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Collins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Takahashi won't be happy with that. Collins wants to control but Takahashi is keeping him busy. Collins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Collins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Collins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Takahashi has escaped the position, nice work there. Collins trying to control the position but Takahashi is working away. Takahashi is trying to get back to half guard. Collins working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Collins tries for a kimura but Takahashi is defending well. Collins is breathing heavily. Takahashi is trying to improve his position. Collins swings around for an armbar but Takahashi sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Collins's guard. Collins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Takahashi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Takahashi advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takahashi is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Collins is looking to improve his position.
Takahashi is trying to control the action in half guard but Collins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Collins gets full guard. Collins looking to control.
Takahashi wants to stand but Collins is controlling his posture from full guard. Takahashi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Palmer Collins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Collins moves out of range as Takahashi throws a body kick.
Collins misses with a takedown attempt and Takahashi counters with a flying knee. Nice. Takahashi displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Takahashi misses the jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takahashi scores with a shot to the body.
Collins fails with the takedown and Takahashi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Collins won't be happy with that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Collins looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Collins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Collins is trying to control but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Collins misses with a takedown attempt and Takahashi counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Noryuki Takahashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Palmer Collins. Takahashi scores with a head kick.
Takahashi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Collins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Collins trying to mount his opponent but Takahashi defends it. Takahashi wants to get back to full guard but Collins has passed into side control. Palmer Collins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Collins looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Noryuki Takahashi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Collins thowing shots but they're missing. Takahashi really wants to buck Collins off and get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Noryuki Takahashi showed his dominance in that final round. I think Collins has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
