With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Greg Owens!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Owens.
Jones avoiding damage as Owens throws knees to the body.

Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Owens walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Owens darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Owens's corner calls for a 1-2. Owens obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Owens stuns Jones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Owens connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Jones walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Owens is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Owens is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jones asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
You can see the frustration on Owens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Owens keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Owens throws a leg kick but Jones checks it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Owens cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Owens thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss
and Owens counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Owens counter with a right hand.

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
Owens wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Owens dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jones moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Greg Owens seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Owens jabs Jones right on the nose. Jones blinks but takes it well.

Owens has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Owens fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Owens scores with a decent looking hook.
Owens keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Jones has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Owens finds it's way round the side to connect with Jones's head.
Jones takes one on the button.
Owens keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Owens punishes Jones's body with a nice straight punch.
Greg Owens is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Owens is on top in guard.

Owens gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.

No joy there for Owens, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Greg Owens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Owens lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones throws a series of punches but Owens moves out of range.

Jones moves forwards but Owens connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Jones throws a head kick but Owens moves out of range.
The fighters circling - Owens throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jones takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Owens throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
Owens throws a jab but it's blocked by Jones.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Owens.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jones prevents Owens from getting the reversal.
Owens is squirming around, avoiding Jones's attempts to control the action.

Owens keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Owens tries to hold on but Jones postures up.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Owens is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones avoids the attempt from Owens to control.
Owens really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Ron Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Greg Owens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Owens can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jones jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Owens manages to avoid the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ron Jones.
I think Owens has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
