PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dart Weider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Dart Weider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Sullivan!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Weider.
Weider shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sullivan as he jumps to the side.

Sullivan moves into the clinch.

Sullivan drags the fight down to the ground.
Sullivan looking for a sweep. Not yet Sullivan, not yet.
Sullivan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Weider. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Weider might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sullivan keeping full guard, as Weider tries to pass.
Weider could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sullivan trying to strike off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weider stopping the sweep attempt from Sullivan.

Sullivan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Weider gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Weider wants to control from the top but Sullivan keeps moving.

Weider wants to pass the guard but Sullivan is keeping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sullivan gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sullivan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Weider gets back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sullivan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Weider is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sullivan trying to control the position from guard on top but Weider is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Weider trying to strike off his back.

Weider is trying to keep Sullivan in close.
Sullivan looks gassed!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Sullivan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sullivan.

Weider seems keen to control Sullivan's posture.

Weider wants to sweep here but Sullivan controlling him for the moment.
Weider is trying to control the position but Sullivan postures up.

Weider bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sullivan's guard.

Sullivan doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Sullivan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sullivan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sullivan won't let Weider get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Weider tries to hold on but Sullivan pushes him away.
You get the feeling that Weider really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Sullivan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Weider is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sullivan thowing shots but they're missing.
Weider wants to hold on but Sullivan pushes him away.
BOOM! Sullivan connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Weider gets back to half guard.
Weider is looking to control Sullivan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Weider avoid being mounted?
Weider is refusing to be controlled, as Sullivan sits in half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Weider manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Sullivan looking to pass the guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Weider keeping moving, preventing Sullivan from controlling successfully.
Weider controls Sullivan momentarily but Sullivan frees himself.
Sullivan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Weider is keeping the position for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Weider shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sullivan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Sullivan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Weider keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Sullivan not doing much here.
Sullivan wants to pass the guard but Weider is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Sullivan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Weider closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sullivan to the mat! Sullivan manages to get full guard.
Weider is pushing down on Sullivan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sullivan is fighting to maintain full guard but Weider has managed to sneak the leg through.

Weider looking to pass the guard.
Frank Sullivan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Weider is working hard here to advance position.
Sullivan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sullivan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Weider is just riding it out for now. Sullivan eventually gives up the hold.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Weider wants to control but Sullivan is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Weider is trying to stand back up but Sullivan is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Weider manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Sullivan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Weider looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sullivan wants to control but Weider is keeping him busy.
Weider can't do much from the bottom here.
Sullivan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Weider!

Sullivan swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Weider is now in Sullivan's guard. A big mistake from Sullivan there, giving up the dominant position!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Weider trying to control the position from guard on top but Sullivan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sullivan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Weider got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sullivan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Weider has managed to get both his arms back between Sullivan's legs - danger averted.

Weider wants to stand but Sullivan is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dart Weider has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Weider trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Sullivan looking for a guillotine here but Weider defends easily.
Weider trying to control but Sullivan is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Frank Sullivan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sullivan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
