Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Tiernan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave Tiernan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Dirt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Tiernan! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dirt throws out a leg kick but Tiernan moves out of range and Dirt only half commits. Tiernan's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Tiernan duly obliges. No luck for Tiernan with that takedown attempt. Tiernan scores with a push kick. Tiernan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tiernan lands in his opponent's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Tiernan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dirt, up you get! Tiernan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dirt circles away. Tiernan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Joe Dirt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Tiernan. Tiernan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dirt paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dirt misses with a head kick.
Dirt misses with a double jab.
Tiernan shoots in for a double leg but Dirt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A slapping leg kick lands for Tiernan.
Tiernan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dirt circles away. Tiernan throws a series of punches but Dirt moves out of range. Dirt stuffs the takedown attempt from Tiernan. Tiernan gets slowly back to his feet. Tiernan looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Tiernan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dirt pinned against the cage. Dirt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Dirt instigates a clinch. Dirt breaks from the clinch.
Tiernan scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Tiernan performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Dirt makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Dirt misses with a combination
and Tiernan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Dirt misses with a double jab.
Dirt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Tiernan blocks a head kick by Dirt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dirt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dirt decides to stand back up. No luck for Tiernan with that takedown attempt. Dirt scores with a nice strike. Tiernan fails with the takedown and Dirt counters with a one-two to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dirt tries to clinch but Tiernan is having none of it. Tiernan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dirt.

Tiernan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Dirt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dirt prevents Tiernan from improving position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dirt wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Tiernan trying to control the position but Dirt is working away. Tiernan throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Dirt is trying to improve his position. Dirt is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tiernan has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Tiernan taking a break here but Dirt is having none of it and regains half guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tiernan slips under a jab. Dirt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Tiernan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dirt would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tiernan is pulling down on Dirt's head to control his posture. Tiernan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dirt passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Joe Dirt will probably get the nod. That's time! Dirt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Tiernan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Tiernan trying to control but Dirt is working from the bottom. Dirt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dirt pulls Tiernan in close to prevent any damage. Tiernan trying to control the position from guard on top but Dirt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tiernan wants to pass the guard but Dirt is keeping the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dirt wants to stand and escape but Tiernan is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tiernan trying to control the position from guard on top but Dirt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tiernan closes the distance looking to clinch and Dirt counters with a three punch combo that has Tiernan backing up. Tiernan nods at Dirt to acknowledge the strikes. Dirt scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Dirt frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Dirt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tiernan is looking to escape. Tiernan tries to lock up and control but Dirt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dirt get's back to his feet. A slapping leg kick lands for Tiernan.
Tiernan doesn't succeed with the takedown and Dirt counters with a head kick. Tiernan shoots in and drives through. Dirt sprawls well. Dirt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tiernan avoids it really well and circles away. Tiernan cracks the inside of Dirt's front leg. Tiernan with a poor takedown and Dirt counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dirt. Joe Dirt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Tiernan. Dirt wants a takedown.
Tiernan has hold of one of Dirt's legs. Dirt is fighting the takedown attempt but Tiernan gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tiernan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tiernan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Tiernan looking to pass the guard. Dirt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Tiernan wants to control from the top but Dirt keeps moving. Dirt is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tiernan is controlling him. Tiernan postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Tiernan wants to control from the top but Dirt keeps moving.

Tiernan with a poor takedown and Dirt counters with a nice double leg into guard. Tiernan is looking for a triangle here but Dirt uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Tiernan tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Dirt presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tiernan is trying desperately to improve position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Dirt dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Dirt gets the takedown into side control. Tiernan tries to escape but Dirt is in control. Tiernan tries to bench press Dirt off him but Dirt keeps the position. Tiernan trying to control but Dirt flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Dirt controls the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Tiernan rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dirt works his way into side control. Dirt stands up. Tiernan shoots and misses and Dirt counters with a body kick that stops Tiernan in his tracks momentarily. Dirt throws a series of strikes that have Tiernan backpedaling.
Dirt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dirt throws a head kick that misses. Tiernan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dirt! Tiernan working for a guillotine from mount but Dirt is in no mood to give up. Tiernan stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tiernan with a lazy takedown attempt and Dirt counters with a straight right hand. Tiernan with a lazy takedown attempt and Dirt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Joe Dirt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Tiernan. A shot to de liver by Dirt. Beautiful body shot. Tiernan with a poor takedown and Dirt counters with a takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Tiernan sneaks back into half guard. Tiernan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dirt pulls his head out easily. Tiernan trying to control but Dirt postures up.
Dirt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tiernan trying to control but Dirt postures up.
Tiernan won't allow Dirt to pass to mount. Tiernan wants to get back to full guard but Dirt has mounted him! Tiernan can't escape the position.
Dirt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tiernan is working to get back to half guard.
Tiernan wants to control but Dirt is having none of it. Dirt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Tiernan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Dirt showed his dominance in that final round. Well Dirt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
