PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marius Metropolis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsushima has chosen Eminem - Till I Collapse as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marius Metropolis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lewis Tsushima!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Metropolis keeps the fight on the outside.
Metropolis moves away from the strike by Tsushima.
Metropolis scores with a hook.
Metropolis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Tsushima doesn't manage to clinch there - Metropolis circles away.

Metropolis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tsushima sprawls well initially but Metropolis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tsushima moves into full guard.
Tsushima has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Tsushima trying to keep a closed guard but Metropolis is proving a slippery customer.

Tsushima is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Metropolis looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Metropolis is trying to get back to full guard.
Tsushima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Metropolis keeps working.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tsushima perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Tsushima not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Metropolis wants to get back to full guard.
Metropolis is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Tsushima jumps into side control!

Metropolis wants to improve his position but Tsushima is controlling well.

Metropolis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tsushima pulls his head out easily.

Tsushima is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Metropolis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tsushima.

Tsushima is working for a submission of some sort.
Metropolis is not content to let Tsushima control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tsushima takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tsushima is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tsushima is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lewis Tsushima dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Metropolis ducks under a wild hook from Tsushima.
Tsushima misses the shot to the body.
Metropolis throws a right and a left that Tsushima avoids nicely.
Tsushima tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Metropolis was well out of range. Poor timing from Tsushima.
A lazy left from Metropolis finds it's target.
Metropolis throws a hook to the side of Tsushima's head but Tsushima sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Tsushima fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Metropolis lands a slapping body shot.
Metropolis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tsushima sprawls well. Tsushima wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Metropolis gets slowly back to his feet.
Metropolis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Metropolis dives in and grabs Tsushima's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tsushima pushes down on Metropolis's head and hops out.
Metropolis misses with a wild body shot.
Metropolis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Metropolis slips a straight right by Tsushima.
A looping hook to the body misses from Metropolis. Tsushima does a little dance to reset his feet.

Metropolis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tsushima was covering up waiting for the punch and Metropolis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Tsushima is looking to stand back up but Metropolis counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tsushima.

Tsushima gets back to full guard.
Tsushima can't keep his opponent in guard - Metropolis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tsushima is trying to get back to full guard.
Metropolis trying to mount his opponent but Tsushima defends it.

Tsushima gets back to full guard.
Metropolis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tsushima wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Metropolis passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tsushima holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Tsushima trying to control but Metropolis postures up.
Metropolis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tsushima knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tsushima has hold of Metropolis's hands but Metropolis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Tsushima throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Tsushima scores with a nice right hand.
Metropolis shoots in but no luck this time.
Tsushima lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A slow jab from Tsushima misses its intended target.
Metropolis takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Metropolis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tsushima.
Tsushima moves away from the strike by Metropolis.
Tsushima throws a jab but it's blocked by Metropolis.
Metropolis throws a shot from downtown. Tsushima moves away and avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Metropolis misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Tsushima counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tsushima.
Tsushima throws a head punch that misses.
Metropolis misses with a punch on the inside.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Tsushima.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tsushima is pushing Metropolis up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Tsushima digs a right hand underneath Metropolis's ribcage. Metropolis let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Tsushima manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Tsushima is trying to break the clinch but Metropolis is controlling him.
Tsushima lands with a right to the head.
Tsushima lands a hook that snaps the head of Metropolis backwards.
Metropolis scores with a nice hook to the head.
Tsushima blocks a punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Tsushima.
Tsushima lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Tsushima pressing his opponent against the cage.
Tsushima wants to stall.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Metropolis.
Tsushima misses with a short punch on the inside.
Tsushima lands a shot to the body.
Tsushima looking to stall.
Metropolis takes a shot to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tsushima escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tsushima wants to clinch

and Metropolis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Metropolis.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tsushima has Metropolis pulled in close to control his posture.
Metropolis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tsushima works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Metropolis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Metropolis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tsushima defends it nicely.
Metropolis takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Tsushima is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tsushima tries to clinch up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tsushima throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lewis Tsushima comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tsushima has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
