The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Smeltz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
silva scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
silva wants to pass the guard but Smeltz is defending well.
Smeltz is not content to let silva control the position.
Smeltz tries to roll over but silva keeps him under control.
silva is looking to take a break and control but Smeltz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smeltz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. silva is aware though and is defending well.

silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smeltz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Smeltz is not content to let silva control the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Nice takedown defense from Smeltz. No joy for silva on that attempt.
Smeltz tries to keep at a distance but silva has taken the fight into the clinch.

Smeltz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smeltz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from silva - the referee stops the clock and Smeltz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says silva. Smeltz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Smeltz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck silva on the side of the head.

Smeltz clinches up with silva and pushes him back against the cage.
silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
silva throws a body punch but Smeltz moves out of range.
Smeltz misses with a wild combination.
silva has closed the distance and engaged Smeltz in a clinch.
silva tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smeltz just stands there and leans against the cage.

Luka Smeltz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
alex silva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luka Smeltz.
I think silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
