PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gold Mine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mine has chosen Kardinal Offishall - Ol' Time Killin' as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rafael Gotti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gold Mine!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gotti paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gotti.

Gotti scores a takedown into full mount!
Mine tries to lock up and control but Gotti gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gotti controlling the position easily from mount.
Mine in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Gotti goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mine is on top in guard.
Mine wants to pass the guard but Gotti is keeping the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gotti is on top in guard.

Gotti tries to free his leg and advance position but Mine is retaining full guard.
Mine is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mine looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gotti is one step ahead there.

Gotti drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mine manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gotti has Mine in his guard.
Gotti trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Gotti escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mine gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gotti looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mine has picked Gotti up and slammed him! Gotti can't keep hold of the triangle and Mine manages to pass to side control!
Gotti tries to bench press Mine off him but Mine keeps the position.
Gotti is breathing heavily.
Mine trying to control the action but Gotti is working from the bottom.

Mine stands up.
Gotti takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Mine displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gotti.
Mine stuffs the takedown attempt from Gotti. Gotti gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rafael Gotti. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mine tries to close the distance and clinch but Gotti swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gotti wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mine, who protects the arm well.
Mine is looking to regain half guard here but Gotti keeps moving and retains side control.
Mine wants to control but Gotti postures up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mine gets back to half guard.
Mine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gotti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mine wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mine lands a jab to the head.
Mine lands with a good body shot.
Mine tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gotti swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gotti shoots in and drives through. Mine sprawls well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mine shoots in for a takedown but Gotti shows good takedown defense.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gold Mine dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mine shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gotti pinned against the cage. Gotti gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gotti feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gotti tries to free his leg and advance position but Mine is retaining full guard.

Mine is looking for a triangle but Gotti pushes his legs off easily.

Gotti is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mine doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gotti.

Gotti is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mine has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mine manages to get to full guard.
Mine wants to sweep here but Gotti controlling him for the moment.
Gotti thows a big elbow that misses.
Gotti forces his way into half guard.

Well, if Gotti is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Gotti tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mine knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Gotti is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Gotti wants to work for an arm triangle but Mine is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gotti is working for a submission of some sort.
Mine is trying to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gotti shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gotti was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mine is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Gotti misses with a takedown attempt

and Mine counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gotti!
Mine wants to control the pace but Gotti is squirming around nicely.
Gotti is trying desperately to improve position.

Mine wants to control from the top but Gotti keeps moving.

Gotti has his foot on Mine's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mine works his way back into a safe position though.

Gotti wants to improve his position but instead Mine has moved into half guard.

Mine prevents Gotti from improving his position.
Mine wants to pass the guard but Gotti is defending well.
Mine controlling the action here.

Gold Mine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mine has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
