Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grant Fletcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Grant Fletcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Koscheck !
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fletcher gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Koscheck is stalling in the full guard.
Koscheck is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fletcher has a closed guard, preventing Koscheck from standing up.

Koscheck decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fletcher is looking to clinch but Koscheck is avoiding it.

Koscheck instigates a clinch.
Fletcher tries for a takedown but Koscheck manages to get underhooks.
Fletcher with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Fletcher tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Koscheck smiles and moves away.

and Koscheck counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Koscheck .
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grant Fletcher. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Koscheck turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Koscheck manages to end up in side control.
Fletcher tries to buck Koscheck off but Koscheck is having none of it.

Fletcher throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
You can see the frustration on Fletcher's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Koscheck is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fletcher knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fletcher tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Koscheck wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Koscheck creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fletcher sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fletcher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Koscheck counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Koscheck .
Fletcher is breathing heavily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fletcher controlling the pace for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koscheck is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Fletcher trying to control but Koscheck is having none of it.

Koscheck bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Koscheck throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Koscheck drives through and clinches with Fletcher against the cage.
Koscheck is looking to break free of the clinch but Fletcher has double underhooks.

Koscheck gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fletcher.

Koscheck manages to break the clinch.
Fletcher gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Koscheck counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fletcher misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fletcher wants to clinch but Koscheck slips to the side

and Koscheck counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fletcher's guard now.
Koscheck landing with the ground and pound.
Koscheck with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Koscheck must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Koscheck stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fletcher swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Josh Koscheck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Koscheck counters by moving into the clinch.

Koscheck stands up and waves to Fletcher to follow him.

Fletcher throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Koscheck stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Fletcher throws a sloppy head kick and Koscheck moves out of range easily.

Koscheck feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fletcher tries to lock up and control but Koscheck gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Fletcher manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Koscheck manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Koscheck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
