Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Hatton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylvester Terkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatton comes to the cage accompanied by Bret Hart theme. Bret Hatton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bret Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sylvester Terkey!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terkey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hatton avoids it really well and circles away.
Hatton lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Terkey closes the distance and clinches up with Hatton, looking for a takedown. Terkey pushes Hatton against the cage but Hatton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hatton throws a front kick that sends Terkey stumbling back into the cage.
Hatton throws a sloppy head kick and Terkey moves out of range easily.
Hatton lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Terkey backs up against the cage.

Hatton shoots in and bounces Terkey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Terkey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hatton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hatton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hatton wants to pass the guard but Terkey is keeping the position.
Hatton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hatton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Terkey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hatton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hatton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hatton stands and steps away. Terkey gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Hatton counters with a head kick. That will keep Terkey thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Bret Hatton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sylvester Terkey.

Hatton throws a nice looking combination but Terkey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hatton shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Hatton is looking for a kimura but Terkey is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hatton to get the leverage.
Still in half guard, Hatton seems content to control.

Hatton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Hatton is trying to control. Terkey wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hatton is really struggling to control Terkey but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Terkey closes the distance looking to clinch

and Hatton counters with a single leg into guard. Terkey didn't expect that.

Terkey is looking for a triangle but Hatton pushes his legs off easily.

Hatton drops back looking for a leg! Terkey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Terkey manages to kick Hatton off! Hatton jumps back into Terkey's guard.
Terkey wants to sweep here but Hatton controlling him for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Terkey looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hatton has picked Terkey up and slammed him! Terkey can't keep hold of the triangle and Hatton manages to pass to side control!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bret Hatton dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hatton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Hatton counters with a shoot takedown. Terkey fights it but they end up in guard.
Hatton stands and throws Terkey's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Hatton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Terkey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hatton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hatton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Terkey, who protects the arm well.

Hatton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Terkey has managed to free his arm - good work.

Terkey is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hatton pulls his head out easily.

Terkey is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hatton to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hatton shrugs it off.

I would just about give that final round to Sylvester Terkey.
Well Hatton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
