Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rafael Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ron Franks!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Franks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gonzales as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters circling a little - Gonzales finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Franks looks gassed!
Franks moves in looking to clinch but Gonzales pushes him off.
Gonzales shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gonzales showed some decent athleticism there.
Franks won't allow Gonzales to pass to mount.
Gonzales frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gonzales is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Franks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Franks is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gonzales is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Franks can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Franks is bucking up trying to escape but Gonzales cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzales looking to finish Franks with some ground and pound. This is bad for Franks!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franks in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Franks is still in real trouble! Can Gonzales finish him?
Gonzales get's back to his feet.
Franks seems to have recovered his senses.
Gonzales drives through and clinches with Franks against the cage.
Gonzales manages to break the clinch.
Gonzales looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Gonzales slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gonzales is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Franks is trying to escape and Gonzales transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Franks is forced to tap! Nice work there by Gonzales! Very nice indeed!
