Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Sampson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George St Perrie! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! St Perrie keeps the fight on the outside. Sampson shoots for a takedown but St Perrie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Sampson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sampson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. St Perrie stuffs the takedown. St Perrie misses with a few strikes there.
Sampson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has St Perrie pinned against the cage. St Perrie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gunnar Sampson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sampson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but St Perrie avoids it really well and circles away. Sampson is breathing heavily. St Perrie lands a body shot.
St Perrie clinches up with Sampson and pushes him back against the cage. St Perrie manages to break the clinch.
St Perrie throws a sloppy head kick and Sampson moves out of range easily. St Perrie lands with a kick to the temple. Sampson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

That's one minute gone in the round. St Perrie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sampson as he avoids it easily. St Perrie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sampson is fending him off so far but St Perrie persists. Nope, Sampson circles away and we're back to standing. The fight moves into the clinch position. Sampson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Sampson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sampson looks to throw an elbow but misses. St Perrie's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. St Perrie gets caught flat footed, as Sampson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Sampson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. St Perrie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. St Perrie is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's two minutes gone in the round. St Perrie has clasped his hands together around Sampson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Sampson parries the strikes from St Perrie easily there. St Perrie is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sampson to escape.
Sampson is trying to escape and get back to his feet. St Perrie stands up and we're back to a striking position. George St Perrie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sampson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
St Perrie leaves Sampson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. St Perrie rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sampson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. St Perrie scores a takedown into full mount! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! St Perrie scoring with strikes but Sampson is staying in there.

St Perrie looking to control but Sampson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sampson regains half guard. Sampson pushes St Perrie off looking to stand but St Perrie dives back in and keeps control.
St Perrie slips a nice elbow through Sampson's hands, connecting with Sampson's forehead. St Perrie throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. St Perrie sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sampson defending well though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. St Perrie looks to land a strike but Sampson avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Sampson looking for subs off his back but St Perrie has passed one foot through into half guard.

St Perrie breaks from Sampson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Sampson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. St Perrie with shots to the head and body - Sampson looks very uncomfortable down there. St Perrie lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George St Perrie dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gunnar Sampson's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
St Perrie shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Sampson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. St Perrie preventing the sweep. Sampson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from St Perrie. Sampson is trying to keep St Perrie in close.
Sampson has momentary wrist control but St Perrie slips an elbow through the middle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. St Perrie is working Sampson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. St Perrie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sampson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sampson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sampson fails with a takedown attempt. Sampson tries to keep at a distance but St Perrie has taken the fight into the clinch. Sampson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. St Perrie can't get the takedown.
Sampson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sampson misses with a takedown attempt - St Perrie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck for St Perrie with that takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sampson scores with a three punch combo!

Sampson pulls St Perrie in to control the position. St Perrie prevents Sampson from getting back to his feet. St Perrie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. George St Perrie has got the better of the ground game so far. Sampson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. St Perrie lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. St Perrie wants to clinch but Sampson slips to the side and Sampson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in St Perrie's guard now. St Perrie looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sampson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. St Perrie working a defensive guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sampson landing some decent shots from guard. St Perrie has a closed guard, preventing Sampson from standing up. Sampson wants to control from the top but St Perrie keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. St Perrie lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Gunnar Sampson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! St Perrie throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
