Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Woodrow Poteat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brett Richards! The judges for this bout are , and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice body kick there by Poteat. Poteat tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Poteat lands a front kick. Poteat misses with a jab, cross combination.
Poteat throws a right and a left that both miss. Richards gets the takedown into side control. Richards swings around for an armbar but Poteat sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Richards's guard. Poteat wants to get up but he can't break Richards's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Richards is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Poteat is aware though and is defending well. Richards had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Poteat defends it easily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Poteat trying to stand up but can't free himself from Richards's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poteat trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Poteat stands up and waves to Richards to follow him. Poteat misses with a low kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Poteat dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Poteat misses with a series of wild punches.

Richards shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Richards drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Richards jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Richards stands and throws Poteat's legs to the side, diving into side control. Poteat uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Richards. Poteat connects with a body shot. Poteat fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Poteat throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Poteat thumps Richards with a low kick. A head kick misses from Poteat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richards wants to finish this one by submission but Poteat is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Richards. Richards looking to secure an arm triangle but Poteat defends it well. Poteat really wants to buck Richards off and get back to his feet.
