Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cain Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Saburo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powers comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Adam Saburo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cain Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adam Saburo!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers stuffs the takedown attempt from Saburo. Saburo gets slowly back to his feet.
Powers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Saburo circles away quickly and effectively.
Adam Saburo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A good leg kick by Powers.
Saburo tries to clinch up.

Saburo moves into the clinch.
Saburo lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Powers or not.

Powers manages to break the clinch.
Saburo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Powers swivels and escapes.
Saburo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cain Powers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Saburo.
Saburo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Powers lands a nice looking kick to the body. Saburo takes a step back to recover.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Powers sends Saburo crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Powers is motioning to the referee to let Saburo up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


It looks like Adam Saburo has been cut.
Powers lands a body shot.
Powers shoots in for a takedown but Saburo shows good takedown defense.

Powers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Powers is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Powers seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Powers is taking a breather. Saburo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Powers stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Saburo to get to his feet.
Powers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Powers throws a leg kick which misses Saburo's front leg but catches the back leg as Saburo tries to avoid it.

Powers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Saburo did well to prevent Powers getting side control.
Saburo wants to improve his position but Powers is controlling well.
Powers takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The cut man is working on Adam Saburo's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Saburo misses with a takedown attempt

and Powers counters by clinching up.

Powers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Powers connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nice straight punches there by Powers. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Powers.

Powers drives through and clinches with Saburo against the cage.

Powers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Powers stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Powers fails to land the takedown.
Powers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Saburo.
Saburo throws a push kick but Powers slaps the foot to one side.
Saburo is trying desperately to land a takedown but Powers is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Saburo.

Saburo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Powers is fending him off so far but Saburo persists. Nope, Powers circles away and we're back to standing.
Cain Powers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Saburo.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Powers is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Saburo's half guard.
Saburo is looking for a sweep. Powers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Saburo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Powers sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Powers throws a series of punches but Saburo avoids them all with ease.

and Powers counters with a left and a right that stings Saburo.
Powers scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Saburo shoots in looking for a takedown. Powers tries to sprawl out of it but Saburo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Powers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Saburo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Powers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Saburo can't do much from the bottom here.
Powers cracks Saburo with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Powers controls the position.
Saburo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Powers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Powers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Saburo, who protects the arm well.

Powers scores with a couple of short elbows.
Powers staying calm.
Powers trying to control the action but Saburo is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Powers dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Adam Saburo's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Saburo shoots and misses
and Powers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Powers finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Cain Powers is winning the standup battle so far.
Saburo tries to move into range but Powers moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Powers moves into the clinch.

Powers pulls Saburo into guard.
Powers wants to sweep but no luck.
Saburo passes Powers's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Saburo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Powers is looking to control Saburo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Powers avoid being mounted?
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Saburo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Powers defends it well.

Saburo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Powers's head.
Powers wants to get back to his feet.
Powers wants to control but Saburo is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Powers counters with a straight right hand.
Saburo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Powers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Saburo shoots in for a takedown but Powers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Powers thuds his right hand into Saburo's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Powers lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Powers.

Saburo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Powers paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Saburo throws a jab but it's blocked by Powers.
Powers lands a two punch combo.
Powers displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Saburo.

and Saburo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Powers scores with a one two! Saburo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

and Powers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Cain Powers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Powers blocks the strikes from Saburo.
Saburo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Powers is working away from the top position though.
Saburo is not content to let Powers control the position.
Saburo is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saburo tries to get to full guard but Powers has control of the leg.
Saburo wants to get back to full guard but Powers has mounted him!
Adam Saburo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Powers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Saburo on the ground.
Saburo can't escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cain Powers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Powers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
