PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leif Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dakevis Eddie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Anderson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black Star Deceiver. Eddie has chosen o lets do it as his entrance music. Dakevis Eddie will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leif Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dakevis Eddie!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eddie scores with a head kick.
Eddie throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Eddie clinches with his opponent.
Anderson misses with a hook to the ribs.

Eddie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Anderson darts in trying to clinch
and Eddie counters with a two punch combo.

Eddie forces Anderson back against the cage and clinches.

Anderson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Eddie is trying to keep an underhook but Anderson manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Eddie is trying to stand up here but Anderson is controlling him well.
Eddie is looking to improve his position.
Anderson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Eddie is pressing down on Anderson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Anderson is looking to work some ground and pound but Eddie has wrist control.
Eddie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Eddie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.
Anderson lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Anderson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Eddie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Anderson manages to get himself to full guard.

Anderson wriggles free and stands up.

and Eddie makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Anderson really felt that one!

Eddie goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Eddie drives through and clinches with Anderson against the cage.

Eddie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Anderson smiles and moves away.

Eddie moves into the clinch.

Eddie lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Anderson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Anderson.
Anderson is looking to stand up but Eddie isn't so interested in that idea.
Anderson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eddie trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anderson is looking to stand up but Eddie isn't so interested in that idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Eddie stands and steps away. Anderson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Anderson darts in trying to clinch

and Eddie counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Eddie.
Anderson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Anderson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Eddie is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Eddie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Anderson uses from the top position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Eddie is pulling down on Anderson's head to control his posture.
Anderson wants to pass the guard but Eddie is keeping the position.
Eddie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Anderson is one step ahead there.
Eddie wants to stand but Anderson is controlling the position.

Anderson wants to control from the top but Eddie keeps moving.
Eddie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Anderson won't allow Eddie to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Anderson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Eddie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Eddie is not content to let Anderson control the position.
Eddie regains half guard there - taking advantage of Anderson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakevis Eddie dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Eddie has his takedown stuffed

and Anderson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Anderson working over Eddie with some ground and pound. Eddie looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Eddie is defending against the submission attempts here by Anderson.
Eddie wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Anderson drops an elbow to the side of Eddie's head.
Anderson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Anderson is nestled in close to Eddie, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Eddie is trying to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Eddie is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

and Eddie counters with an outside leg kick.

Anderson drives through and clinches with Eddie against the cage.

Eddie breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Eddie is looking to improve his position but Anderson isn't that keen on the idea.

Anderson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

A nice elbow there by Anderson.
Eddie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Eddie is bucking up trying to escape but Anderson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Anderson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Eddie's face.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Anderson wants to control the pace but Eddie is squirming around nicely.

Eddie takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Leif Anderson dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Eddie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Anderson.
No luck for Eddie with that takedown attempt.

Eddie gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Eddie is trying to control the position but Anderson postures up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Anderson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Eddie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Anderson stands up over Eddie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Leif Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dakevis Eddie.
Anderson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Eddie gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Anderson has hold of one of Eddie's legs. Eddie is fighting the takedown attempt but Anderson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Eddie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Anderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Anderson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Eddie lands a head kick. Anderson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Eddie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Anderson's waist but Anderson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eddie off to one side.
A solid leg kick lands there for Eddie.

Eddie instigates a clinch.

Anderson successfully pulls guard.
Anderson wants to stand and escape but Eddie is having none of it.
Anderson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Eddie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Anderson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Anderson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Eddie is controlling him.

Eddie stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Eddie, right into the meat.
Anderson looks to clinch

and Eddie holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Anderson wants a takedown but no success here.
Anderson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Eddie breaks from the clinch.
Leif Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Eddie moves into the clinch successfully.

Anderson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Anderson doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Eddie counter with a right hand.

Eddie has taken the fight to the clinch.

Eddie fails with an attempt to clinch.

Leif Anderson showed his dominance in that final round.
