Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson moves out of range as Masters strikes.

Masters rushes Nelson and presses him up against the cage.
Nelson tries to break free but Masters pushes him back against the cage.

Masters decides to pull guard.

Masters has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Nelson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Masters throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nelson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nelson moves out of range of the body kick from Masters.
Nelson slaps away a takedown attempt from Masters, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nelson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nelson throws a sloppy head kick and Masters moves out of range easily.

Masters takes the fight into the clinch.
Nelson is trying to break the clinch but Masters has him pressed against the cage.

Masters throws a series of punches but Nelson moves out of range.

Masters fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nelson has his takedown stuffed
and Masters counters with a head kick.

Masters fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nelson, pushing him back against the cage.
Nelson throws an elbow but it misses.
A frustrated look appears on Nelson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Nelson creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Masters's defenses.

Masters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Masters.

Masters moves into the clinch.
Nelson is pressed up against the cage. Masters has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nelson down to the mat. Nelson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Masters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck for Nelson with that takedown attempt.
Nelson looks gassed!
A head kick from Nelson lands but Masters takes it in his stride.

Masters pushes Nelson up against the cage in a clinch.

Masters keeps control of Nelson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Nelson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Masters manages to break the clinch.

Masters rushes Nelson and presses him up against the cage.

Masters pulls guard effortlessly.
Masters looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nelson is one step ahead there.
Nelson wants to get up but he can't break Masters's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nelson wants to stand and escape but instead Masters has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Nelson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Masters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson is working an open guard so Masters takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Masters counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Masters.
Masters stands up over Nelson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Masters's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Masters is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nelson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nelson thumps Masters with a low kick.
Nelson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Masters blocks a head kick by Nelson.
Masters looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nelson is fending him off so far but Masters persists. Nope, Nelson circles away and we're back to standing.

Masters is looking to clinch but Nelson is avoiding it.

Masters instigates a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Masters is working for takedown but Nelson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Come on Masters - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Nelson wants to break free but Masters has control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Masters dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Masters bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Masters decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nelson to his feet.

Masters clinches up with Nelson and pushes him back against the cage.
Nelson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Nelson throws an elbow but it misses.
Masters keeps control of Nelson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Masters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson swats away the attempt to clinch by Masters.
Ken Masters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nelson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Masters counters with a shoot takedown. Nelson fights it but they end up in guard.
Masters has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nelson is working an open guard so Masters takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Masters shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nelson defends it nicely.
Masters lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nelson backs up against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Masters throws a right and a left that Nelson avoids nicely.

Masters manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nelson manages to get himself to full guard.

Nelson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Nelson wants to stand and escape but instead Masters has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Nelson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Masters manages to pass to side control.
Nelson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Masters manages to move to mount!

Masters working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Nelson looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Masters! Submission of the night perhaps?
