Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Borneo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zac Ryder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joey Borneo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joey Borneo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zac Ryder!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryder changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Borneo tries to avoid it but Ryder manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Borneo to the ground. Borneo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ryder shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Borneo but Borneo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ryder shoots in for a double leg but Borneo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Joey Borneo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zac Ryder.

and Ryder counters with a nice double leg into side control. Borneo won't be happy with that.
Borneo is trying to get back to half guard.
Borneo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Ryder tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Borneo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ryder can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ryder is looking for a sweep. Borneo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ryder is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Well, if Borneo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Borneo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ryder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Borneo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Borneo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Borneo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ryder for as long as he can get away with.

Ryder has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Borneo is working away from the top position though.

Borneo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Borneo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
