Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Randy Walburn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Piston Honda! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walburn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Honda closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Honda thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Walburn tries to improve position but can't. Walburn regains half guard. Honda tries to pass to full mount but Walburn defends it. Walburn pushes Honda off looking to stand but Honda dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Walburn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Walburn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Honda. Walburn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Honda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walburn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Honda works a leg free and moves into half guard. Honda is pressing down on Walburn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Walburn is holding on for now. Honda is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Honda looks gassed! Honda is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Walburn doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Honda. Walburn wants to improve his position but Honda is controlling well.
Walburn gets full guard. Honda passes easily into side control. Nice work. Walburn regains half guard. Walburn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Walburn. Honda drops back looking for a leg! Walburn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Walburn manages to kick Honda off! Honda jumps back into Walburn's guard. Honda wants to pass the guard but Walburn is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Honda stands and throws Walburn's legs to the side, diving into side control. Honda thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Walburn wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Honda is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Walburn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Honda wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Walburn, who protects the arm well. Honda is trying to land an Americana. Honda is rocked! Walburn pushes down on Honda's leg and manages to get into half guard. Honda is still in real trouble! Can Walburn finish him? Walburn works his foot free and advances to mount. Honda seems to have recovered his senses. Walburn prevents Honda from getting the reversal. Walburn gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Walburn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Honda closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Honda seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Honda is working for a kimura but Walburn is defending it quite comfortably.
Walburn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Walburn. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Honda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Honda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Honda passes easily into side control. Nice work. Walburn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Honda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Walburn sneaks back into half guard. Honda looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Walburn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Honda forces his way into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Piston Honda dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Walburn misses with a head kick.
Honda feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Honda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Walburn's guard. Honda uses his free foot to push down on Walburn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Walburn. Honda moves to take his opponent's back. Walburn is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Honda gets his way!
Honda is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Walburn knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Walburn for a finish. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Honda is looking for the choke from the back position but Walburn is controlling his hands well. Honda doesn't have the hooks in and Walburn manages to turn into his guard.
Walburn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Honda had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Walburn is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Honda Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Walburn's back instead. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Honda has got one arm under Walburn's chin. This could be trouble... Walburn trying to control the other hand but Honda gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Walburn has tapped out! The fight is over!
