Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Max Azz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Barros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barros comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Adoled by Planet Hemp kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Azz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Renato Barros!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Barros connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Azz lands a head kick. Barros smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Azz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barros.
Barros tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Azz was well out of range. Poor timing from Barros.
An inside leg kick lands from Barros.
Azz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Azz lands a head kick!
Barros lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Azz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Barros!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barros is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Azz sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Barros is trying to stand.

Barros tries to control Azz's body but Azz pushes him off. Barros squirms to his side and now Azz has his back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Barros rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Azz is taking a breather. Barros says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Azz wants to control from the top but Barros keeps moving.

Barros wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Barros has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Azz has passed into side control.
Azz wants to control but Barros is keeping him busy.
Azz lands a decent elbow from side control.
Barros is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A chopping leg kick lands by Barros.
Max Azz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Azz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barros avoids it really well and circles away.
Azz takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Barros fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Barros tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Barros pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Azz lands a body shot.
Barros throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Barros lands a head kick!


It looks like Max Azz has been cut.

Azz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Barros is breathing heavily.

Barros is looking for a triangle but Azz pushes his legs off easily.

Azz pushes down on Barros's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Azz is taking a breather. Barros says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Azz is looking to take a break and control but Barros is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Azz passes the guard and advances to mount!
Barros keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Azz lands with some strikes.
Azz lands a big shot there that rocks Barros but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Azz working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Azz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Barros is working to get back to half guard.

Azz controlling his opponent.
Azz lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Azz with shots to the head and body - Barros looks very uncomfortable down there.

Azz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Barros to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Barros shrugs it off.
Azz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Barros is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Azz looking to finish Barros with some ground and pound. This is bad for Barros!
Azz looking to control but Barros is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Azz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Azz landing punches.
Azz controlling from the full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Azz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Azz scores with a head kick.
Azz takes one on the button.

Azz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barros was covering up waiting for the punch and Azz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Barros preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Barros keeping moving, preventing Azz from controlling successfully.
Azz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Barros's head.
Barros takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Azz scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Barros has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Azz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Azz wants to control from the top but Barros keeps moving.

Azz gets to his feet - Barros follows without any prompting.
Max Azz is winning the standup battle so far.

Azz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Azz tries for a takedown but Barros manages to get underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee is keeping an eye on Azz - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Azz looking for a takedown.
Barros misses with a knee to the head.
Barros tries a knee to the head but Azz blocks it.
Azz managing to block the knees to the body from Barros.

Azz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Azz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Barros napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Azz has knee on belly and moves into mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Azz trying to control but Barros is having none of it.
Azz manages to capitalize on a mistake by Barros to take his back!

Barros just trying to survive but Azz is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Barros tries to escape but Azz has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Azz is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Azz gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Azz gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Azz apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Azz.
Barros is looking for a sweep.

Barros tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Barros tries to reverse the position but Azz maintains control.

Azz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Barros to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Barros shrugs it off.
Renato Barros has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Barros is bucking up trying to escape but Azz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Azz lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Azz content just to control the position here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Azz showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Azz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
