Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fred Barbaroza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvaro Merida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvaro Merida struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Barbaroza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alvaro Merida! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barbaroza avoids the head kick by Merida.
Barbaroza dives in and grabs Merida's left leg, looking for a takedown. Merida pushes down on Barbaroza's head and hops out. Barbaroza shoots in for a takedown but Merida shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Merida tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barbaroza swats him away and circles back towards the center. Merida plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Merida doesn't succeed with the takedown and Barbaroza counters with a shoot takedown. Merida fights it but they end up in guard. Merida looks gassed! Merida wants to stand up but Barbaroza is controlling him. Merida can't keep his opponent in guard - Barbaroza advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Barbaroza is looking for a kimura here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Barbaroza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Merida is just riding it out for now. Barbaroza eventually gives up the hold.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbaroza seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Merida is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
