Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Rypien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Diaz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sepultura - Refuse/Resist. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rypien's choice of entrance music: The Ripper. Rodrigo Diaz has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Rypien throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Diaz slips a jab from Rypien.
Diaz looks to land a combination but Rypien avoids it well.
Diaz moves out of range as Rypien strikes.

Rypien is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Diaz had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Rick Rypien is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Oh Diaz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Diaz seems to have got his legs back now.
Rypien tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rypien swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Diaz connects with a crisp jab.

and Diaz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rypien's guard now.
Rypien keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rypien swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rypien throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz takes a jab right on the kisser.
Rypien drops Diaz with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Diaz! Rypien dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
