0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anderson Silva! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dela Cruz shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily. Dela Cruz shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily. Silva misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Dela Cruz keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Silva moves in looking to clinch but Dela Cruz pushes him off. Juan Dela Cruz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Silva has his takedown stuffed and Dela Cruz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now. Silva keeping moving, preventing Dela Cruz from controlling successfully. Dela Cruz postures up.

The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dela Cruz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Silva has momentary wrist control but Dela Cruz slips an elbow through the middle.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Dela Cruz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dela Cruz showed some decent athleticism there. Silva wants to get back to his feet. Dela Cruz is looking for a kimura here.

Dela Cruz passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Silva!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva wants to hold on but Dela Cruz pushes him away. Dela Cruz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape. Dela Cruz has control of Silva's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Silva regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Silva tries to lock up and control but Dela Cruz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Dela Cruz unloading with bombs! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Dela Cruz putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Dela Cruz avoids the attempt from Silva to control. Dela Cruz is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Dela Cruz extends the arm and Silva is forced to tap!
