Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Norifumi Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akiyo Nishiura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Norifumi Sato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akiyo Nishiura!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nishiura tries to clinch up but Sato circles away and keeps his distance.
Nishiura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sato drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sato looking to sit in guard and control but Nishiura gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sato looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nishiura is pushing down on Sato's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sato is fighting to maintain full guard but Nishiura has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nishiura thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sato's head.
Nishiura not doing much here.
Sato is refusing to be controlled, as Nishiura sits in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nishiura controlling the action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sato has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nishiura is working away from the top position though.
Nishiura seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nishiura working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Sato's thigh. Sato counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Nishiura must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Norifumi Sato will probably get the nod.
That's time! Sato's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Sato shoots in but Nishiura avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sato fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Nishiura. No joy for Sato on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Norifumi Sato. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nishiura throws a sloppy head kick and Sato moves out of range easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Nishiura lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sato has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sato and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Nishiura moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sato tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nishiura swivels and escapes.

Sato shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nishiura's guard.
Nishiura looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Nishiura not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Nishiura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nishiura wants to stand up but Sato is controlling him.
Nishiura wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sato won't allow Nishiura to get back to his feet.
Nishiura wants to improve his position but instead Sato has moved into half guard.
Sato is trying to control the action in half guard but Nishiura is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sato shoots in for a takedown but Nishiura shows good takedown defense.
A head kick misses from Nishiura.
Sato shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nishiura pinned against the cage. Nishiura gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sato avoids the head kick by Nishiura.
Akiyo Nishiura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sato moves out of range as Nishiura strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Akiyo Nishiura will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Nishiura stuffs the takedown attempt from Sato. Sato gets slowly back to his feet.
Nishiura misses with a double jab.
Sato misses with a takedown attempt - Nishiura sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Sato fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Norifumi Sato. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sato fails with the takedown.
Nishiura tries to land a front kick but Sato steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Sato takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Sato drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nishiura has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sato has passed into side control.
Nishiura is not content to let Sato control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nishiura manages to get back to half guard.
Nishiura moves into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sato won't allow Nishiura to sweep him here.

Akiyo Nishiura comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nishiura has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
