Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Shadows (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Shadows! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Santos! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shadows drives through and clinches with Santos against the cage.
Shadows prevents the takedown attempt.
Shadows gets control of Santos's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shadows will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Shadows working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Santos. Shadows can't keep his opponent in guard - Santos advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Shadows controlling the position well. Santos thows a huge punch but Shadows dodges it nicely.
Shadows is staying active underneath Santos, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Santos is working for a kimura but Shadows is defending it quite comfortably.
Santos misses with a head shot. Shadows uses the momentum to regain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos wanted to stand there but Shadows had control of the position. Santos throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Shadows is trying to keep Santos in close.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Shadows tries to clinch but Santos moves out of range. A nice combination there by Shadows.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Santos. Santos has a takedown stuffed. Matt Shadows has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Santos. Shadows gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Santos counters with a takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Shadows is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Santos asserts his dominance and retains side control. Shadows regains half guard there - taking advantage of Santos's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Santos misses with a head shot. Shadows uses the momentum to regain guard. Santos trying to control but Shadows is working from the bottom. Santos throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shadows is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Shadows is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shadows shoots and misses and Santos counters with a takedown into side control. Santos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shadows, who protects the arm well. Santos looks gassed! Shadows wants to get back to his feet. Shadows is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Santos sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Shadows defending well though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shadows is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Santos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shadows is just riding it out for now. Santos eventually gives up the hold. Santos with the ground and pound but Shadows uses the opportunity to regain guard. Santos wants to get up but he can't break Shadows's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Santos throws a big right hand that misses. Santos trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Santos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Santos dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shadows with a poor takedown and Santos counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shadows's guard now. Shadows pulls Santos in close to prevent any damage. Shadows keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully. Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Santos is fighting to break Shadows's control of his arms but Shadows is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Santos looking to sit in guard and control but Shadows gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Shadows content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shadows's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Shadows wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving. Shadows slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Santos. Santos wants to get back to full guard. Shadows wants to control but Santos is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Santos is trying to control but Shadows passes into side control!
Santos is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Shadows is controlling him well. Shadows has control of an arm but Santos manages to advance to Shadows's back! Shadows wants to get back to his feet. Santos is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shadows defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Santos is breathing heavily. Santos struggling to land strikes to the head as Shadows covers up. Santos is throwing strikes by Shadows counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Shadows regains half guard. Santos is thwarting Shadows's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shadows is trying is best to control the position here. Shadows regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Santos. Shadows pulls Santos in to control the position. Shadows is wriggling around but Santos manages to pass to half guard.
Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shadows keeps working. Santos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Shadows trying to hold on to Santos's head to control him but Santos postures up.
Santos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Shadows is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Santos's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Santos's back! Even with his hooks in, Shadows manages to miss with strikes from the back. I would not like to be Santos right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Shadows lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Shadows moves into the clinch. Santos tries for a takedown but Shadows manages to get underhooks.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Shadows. Shadows escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shadows shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Santos counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shadows! Shadows holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Santos tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Shadows is looking to improve his position but Santos isn't that keen on the idea. Santos with good strikes from the mount here! Santos trying to control but Shadows is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos goes for an armbar but Shadows turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Shadows. Santos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Santos wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Shadows is now in half guard. Shadows stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Santos to get to his feet. Shadows takes the fight into the clinch. Santos tries for a takedown but Shadows manages to get underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shadows escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shadows closes the distance but Santos moves to the side and Santos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shadows's guard. Shadows pulls Santos in close to his closed guard and prevents Santos from doing any damage or advancing position. Diego Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Santos wants to control from the top but Shadows keeps moving. Santos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Shadows looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Santos in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Santos trying to control but Shadows is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shadows tries to clinch but Santos is having none of it. Shadows wants to clinch. Santos circles away from the clinch attempt and Santos counters with a nice double leg into guard. Shadows is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santos won't allow Shadows to get back to his feet. Santos trying to control but Shadows is working from the bottom. Shadows is adopting a defensive guard. Santos trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Matt Shadows has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shadows trying to strike off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shadows keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Santos winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
