Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Villanova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kalja maha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). kalja maha is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arturo Villanova!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, kalja maha!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
maha misses with a wild combination.

Villanova shoots in and bounces maha off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Villanova throws a strike but maha rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
maha wants to stand but Villanova has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
maha looking to pass the guard.
Villanova seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Villanova will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
maha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Villanova swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
maha wants to control from the top but Villanova keeps moving.
maha is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
maha trying to control the position from guard on top but Villanova is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
maha misses with a straight left.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
maha misses with a jab, cross combination.
maha tries to bum rush Villanova with a series of wild strikes but Villanova uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Villanova shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as maha sprawls well. maha wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Villanova gets slowly back to his feet.
maha fails to land with a series of punches.

maha gets the takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
maha staying calm.
Villanova on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Villanova tries to get out of the position.
Villanova is pushing maha's head away, looking to escape. maha manages to hold on to the position though.

maha decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Villanova gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
maha wants to control from the top but Villanova keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Villanova is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
maha passes easily into side control. Nice work.
maha throwing shots but missing, from side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
maha slows the pace down.
maha wants to control but Villanova is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

kalja maha dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Villanova doesn't succeed with the takedown
and maha counters with a nice body shot.
maha misses with a wild combination.

maha has managed to clinch.

maha works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
maha trying to control the position from guard on top but Villanova is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Villanova wants to get back to his feet but maha is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
maha is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
maha trying to control but Villanova is working from the bottom.
maha controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
maha trying to control the position from guard on top but Villanova is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
maha throws a body punch but Villanova moves out of range.

maha looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Villanova manages to escape and get back to his feet.

maha fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Villanova, pushing him back against the cage.
Villanova has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. maha is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Villanova drops to a knee looking for a takedown but maha gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arturo Villanova. That's going to take a lot out of him.

maha has Villanova pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. maha pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Villanova tumbling to the mat - maha dives into Villanova's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
maha wants to pass the guard but Villanova is keeping the position.
maha's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Villanova keeping moving, preventing maha from controlling successfully.
Villanova can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as maha controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
maha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Villanova is keeping the position for now.
maha trying to control the position from guard on top but Villanova is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Villanova trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

maha gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Villanova slips a jab and a cross from maha.

maha drives through with a takedown into guard.
Villanova is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

kalja maha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Villanova shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and maha counters with a takedown into side control.

maha is working to tighten is grip on Villanova's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Villanova has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but maha is really squeezing tight and eventually Villanova passes out! maha breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
