Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yason Tupaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louis Joseph Varrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yason Tupaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Louis Joseph Varrera! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tupaz misses with a head kick.
Tupaz tries to close the distance and clinch but Varrera swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Tupaz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Varrera. Varrera slips a jab and a cross from Tupaz.
Varrera shoots in looking for a takedown. Tupaz tries to sprawl out of it but Varrera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tupaz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Tupaz scores with a nice right hand.

A head kick misses from Tupaz. Tupaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Varrera shoots in and drives through. Tupaz sprawls well. Yason Tupaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Louis Joseph Varrera. Tupaz misses with a double jab.

Varrera fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A combination from Varrera does no damage. Varrera scores a takedown into full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Varrera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tupaz is looking to escape. Tupaz tries to control Varrera's body but Varrera pushes him off. Tupaz squirms to his side and now Varrera has his back! Varrera is looking for the choke from the back position but Tupaz is controlling his hands well. Tupaz is trying to stand back up. Varrera misses with punches from the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Tupaz is keeping busy.
Varrera looks gassed! Tupaz looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Varrera biding his time, controlling Tupaz. Tupaz has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Varrera.

Varrera has the hooks in. Tupaz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Tupaz fending off the submission attempt from Varrera. Varrera looking to break Tupaz's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tupaz remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Varrera will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Varrera throws a series of strikes and Tupaz wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here. Tupaz tries to hold on but Varrera postures up. Tupaz is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Varrera tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Let's hope that Varrera has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Varrera avoids the attempt from Tupaz to control. Varrera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tupaz is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Louis Joseph Varrera dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Tupaz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Varrera connects with a high kick. Tupaz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Tupaz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Varrera shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Tupaz is not content to let Varrera control the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Varrera might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tupaz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Varrera thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tupaz's head. Varrera lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Tupaz wants to get back to full guard. Tupaz wants to get back to his feet. Varrera works his way into full mount! Tupaz blocking the ground and pound. Varrera throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. A nice elbow there by Varrera. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Varrera tries to control but Tupaz wriggling away. Tupaz wants to try and get back to his feet. Varrera controlling the position easily from mount. Tupaz tries to hold on but Varrera postures up. Tupaz is in a horrible position here. Varrera smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Tupaz has given up his back. Will we see Varrera going for some submissions?
Varrera has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Tupaz. Varrera is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Tupaz defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Tupaz trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Tupaz fending off the submission attempt from Varrera. Tupaz looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Varrera is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Tupaz with him. Tupaz is trying to defend but Varrera has an arm under the chin now! Tupaz grimaces and is forced to tap out!
