Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor Forker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Jonas Karlberg! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karlberg bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Forker's head. Karlberg displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Forker. Karlberg takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Forker is trying hard to land a takedown here. Karlberg sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Good exchange - Karlberg coming out on top. Karlberg darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Karlberg is working for a kimura but Forker is defending it quite comfortably.
Karlberg not landing any meaningful shots this time. Karlberg tries to pass the half guard into mount. Forker knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Karlberg wants to work for an arm triangle but Forker is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Karlberg is keen to just control but Forker is a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Forker is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Karlberg pulls his head out easily. Forker avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Karlberg. Karlberg is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Karlberg landing strikes from the mount and Forker is in trouble! Karlberg working for a submission but Forker is keeping him at bay. Karlberg putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Forker tries to hold on but Karlberg postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Forker in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Forker really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Karlberg is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Forker has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Karlberg scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Karlberg putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Forker really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Karlberg postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Forker looks a forlorn figure.
Forker is wriggling around trying to escape.
Karlberg has isolated one of Forker's arms. Forker looking to fight him off but Karlberg twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
