PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and pedro hizo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
hizo throws a shot from downtown. Doe moves away and avoids it.
Doe closes this distance looking for a takedown but hizo circles away.
hizo lands with a hook. Doe tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Doe keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from hizo.
Doe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Doe steps to the side to avoid the strikes from hizo.
hizo throws a lazy right hand but Doe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
hizo throws a jab but it's blocked by Doe.
hizo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Doe.
hizo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
hizo takes a swing at Doe's ribcage but misses.
Doe wants to clinch.
Nice defenses there by Doe.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Doe checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
hizo throws a lazy right hand but Doe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Doe is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Doe is looking to clinch.
hizo wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
hizo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Doe.
hizo scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
hizo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Doe was well out of range. Poor timing from hizo.
Doe doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

hizo avoids the head kick by Doe.
hizo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Doe.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Doe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Doe fails with an attempt to clinch.
hizo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Doe keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from hizo.

hizo feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Doe sprawling to the canvas! Doe rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can hizo finish him?!
Doe is breathing heavily.
Doe closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
hizo is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Doe had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
hizo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Doe has time to react.
hizo lands a nice looking body shot.

hizo cracks Doe with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Doe looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can hizo finish him?

Doe is rocked!
Doe walks straight into a right hand from hizo - that's dropped him! hizo jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Doe from any more punishment! Doe complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
