The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilpin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Amongero paws at him with a jab and circles away. Amongero moves into the clinch. Gilpin is trying to maintain a safe position but Amongero gets an underhook and turns Gilpin into the cage. Gilpin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Amongero smiles and moves away.
Gilpin fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Amongero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Amongero controls from within his opponent's guard. Amongero postures up.
Amongero drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gilpin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gilpin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gilpin! Gilpin trying to control the action but Amongero is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilpin lands some shots froms side control. Amongero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gilpin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Amongero tries to improve position but can't. Gilpin lands an elbow. Amongero is working to avoid the ground and pound but Gilpin connects with a decent elbow. Gilpin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Amongero trying to control but Gilpin flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Gilpin tries to keep control of the position but Amongero is staying busy. Amongero trying to control the action but Gilpin just sinks the hooks in. Gilpin is punishing Amongero with strikes - can he finish him?! Amongero has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Amongero tries to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Amongero is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Amongero looks gassed! Amongero is in bad spot here.
Amongero is taking damage to the body and head. Amongero trying to control the hands but Gilpin breaks the grip. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Amongero tries to break free.

Brandon Gilpin dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gilpin fails with the takedown and Amongero counters with a two punch combo. Gilpin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Amongero did well to prevent Gilpin getting side control. Amongero is staying active underneath Gilpin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Amongero keeps control of the position for the meantime. Gilpin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Amongero keeps working. Gilpin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Amongero doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gilpin. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amongero desperately trying to maintain half guard. Gilpin prevents Amongero from standing back up.
Amongero keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Amongero manages to escape and get back to his feet! Amongero is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gilpin's half guard. Amongero is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Amongero is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Amongero seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Amongero wants to take a breather but Gilpin is having none of it. Amongero with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Gilpin wants to improve his position but Amongero is controlling well.
Amongero seems to be working for a kimura but Gilpin defends the submission attempt. Amongero is thwarting Gilpin's attempts to control the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Amongero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gilpin circles away quickly and effectively.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gilpin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Amongero trying to control the position from guard on top but Gilpin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gilpin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Amongero thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Gilpin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gilpin is working an open guard so Amongero takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Amongero drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Gilpin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Amongero doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Amongero manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gilpin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roberto Amongero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Amongero taking a break here but Gilpin is having none of it and regains half guard. Gilpin is trying to control but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Amongero can't escape the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gilpin struggling to land strikes to the head as Amongero covers up. Amongero wants to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Roberto Amongero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Amongero has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
