PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jethro Pingshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and hajime okita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pingshaw might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Heart of a Champion. Jethro Pingshaw has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jethro Pingshaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, hajime okita!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

okita scores with a takedown into Pingshaw's guard.

okita stands up and waves to Pingshaw to follow him.
Pingshaw throws a good cross that connects.
okita changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pingshaw tries to avoid it but okita manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pingshaw to the ground. Pingshaw escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pingshaw swings and misses with a hook to the body.
okita takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jethro Pingshaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pingshaw fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pingshaw tries a head kick but it misses.
Pingshaw throws a good cross that connects.
Pingshaw misses with a two punch combination.

Pingshaw lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as okita backs up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pingshaw throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pingshaw catches okita with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

okita fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pingshaw sprawls well initially but okita persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pingshaw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for okita on the ground.
okita moves nicely into side control.
Pingshaw gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Pingshaw is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Pingshaw is breathing heavily.
okita takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pingshaw is trying to stand.

Pingshaw is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

okita has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pingshaw's face.

Pingshaw's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Despite being in the dominant position, hajime okita just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

okita shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pingshaw is trying to defend but okita finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
okita not doing much here.
okita tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pingshaw knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

okita looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
okita frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
okita controlling from the full mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pingshaw trying desperately to get to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

hajime okita dominated that round.
That's time! Pingshaw's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


okita avoids a punch combination nicely.

okita closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pingshaw really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
okita controlling the pace.
Pingshaw pushes okita off looking to stand but okita dives back in and keeps control.

okita wants to work for an arm triangle but Pingshaw is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

okita is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Pingshaw is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). hajime okita!
