Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergio Martinez! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mir avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mir avoids the body shot from Martinez.
Martinez stalks Mir and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mir's face. Mir staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Matt Mir has been cut. Mir dives in and grabs Martinez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Martinez pushes down on Mir's head and hops out. Mir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Martinez sprawls well. Martinez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mir gets slowly back to his feet. Mir lands with a hook. Martinez tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Martinez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir tries to clinch but Martinez is having none of it. Mir connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Martinez's hands. Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martinez tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martinez to the ground. Martinez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martinez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Martinez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mir is looking to clinch but Martinez is avoiding it.
Martinez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Martinez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mir shoots in but Martinez avoids the takedown attempt easily. Martinez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mir cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mir tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Martinez throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mir counters with a straight right hand. Mir bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Mir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Martinez. Martinez scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Mir fails with the takedown. Mir will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Martinez looks to land a combination but Mir avoids it well. Martinez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mir looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mir throws a hook but Martinez blocks it. Martinez avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A lazy left from Martinez finds it's target. Martinez throws a wild combination but nothing lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sergio Martinez dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matt Mir's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Martinez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mir circles away quickly and effectively. Martinez throws a right and a left that Mir avoids nicely. Mir shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Martinez defends it nicely. Martinez takes one to the chin there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martinez scores with a one two! Mir had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Mir fails with an attempt to clinch.

Sergio Martinez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Martinez stuns Mir with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mir. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Martinez ducks under a wild hook from Mir. Martinez throws a series of punches but Mir moves out of range. Martinez throws a right and a left that Mir avoids nicely. Martinez stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martinez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mir.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Martinez misses with a few strikes there.

and Mir counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mir tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Martinez is able to avoid easily. Sergio Martinez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Martinez throws a series of punches but Mir moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Martinez missing with a left hand there. Mir was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Mir shoots for a double leg takedown but Martinez sprawls well. He's pushed Mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A combination from Martinez does no damage. Martinez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Martinez lands a slapping body shot.

The fighters circling - Mir throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Martinez connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Martinez looks to land a combination but Mir avoids it well. Martinez fails to land with a series of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Martinez misses with a series of wild punches.
Martinez swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir. Mir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martinez's waist but Martinez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mir off to one side. Mir walks into a jab.
Matt Mir's cut is getting worse. Martinez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mir moves away. Matt Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sergio Martinez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Martinez misses with a wild combination.
And that's the end of the fight! Sergio Martinez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Martinez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
