The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blow shoots in for a double leg but Mason sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Mason throws a solid leg kick but Blow takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mason.

Blow postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mason is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Blow, into his guard.

Blow is looking for a triangle but Mason pushes his legs off easily.
Blow can't keep his opponent in guard - Mason advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mason perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Blow flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Still in half guard, Mason seems content to control.
Mason wants to control but Blow is keeping him busy.

Mason is looking for a kimura but Blow is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mason to get the leverage.
Blow has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mason is working away from the top position though.
Mason wants to pass the guard but Blow is defending well.
Mason content to control rather than advance.

Blow throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mason's waist but Mason gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blow off to one side.

Mason cracks Blow with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Blow looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Mason finish him?

Mason throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Blow on the side of the head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joe Blow's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
