The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giovanni throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Tyler's head.

It looks like Sam Tyler has been cut.
Giovanni tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tyler throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Giovanni has managed to clinch.

Giovanni manages to break the clinch.
Giovanni moves in looking to clinch but Tyler pushes him off.
Tyler swats away the attempt to clinch by Giovanni.
Tyler fails with the takedown.
Giovanni gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Tyler counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Giovanni is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Tyler shoots in and drives through. Giovanni sprawls well.

Tyler looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Tyler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tyler is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Giovanni is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tyler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Giovanni, who protects the arm well.
Giovanni gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Giovanni had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tyler defends it easily.
Tyler wants to control from the top but Giovanni keeps moving.
Giovanni wants to sweep here but Tyler controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Giovanni pushes Tyler away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tyler gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Tyler has hold of Giovanni's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Giovanni tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tyler cranks the arm and Giovanni screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Giovanni, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
