Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Winchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brendan Wertman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wertman has chosen Not Afraid as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Butch Winchester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Brendan Wertman! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Winchester moves into the clinch. Wertman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Winchester avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Winchester tries for a takedown. No joy.

Wertman has Winchester pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Winchester manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Winchester fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Butch Winchester. That's going to take a lot out of him. Winchester tries to score a body lock takedown but Wertman shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Wertman gets underhooks to prevent Winchester's takedown attempt.

He's got hold of a leg but Wertman swivels and escapes. Winchester stuffs the takedown attempt from Wertman. Wertman gets slowly back to his feet. Winchester shoots in but Wertman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wertman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Winchester defends it nicely. The fight stays on the outside here - Winchester looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wertman fails in his attempt to clinch. Wertman swats away the attempt to clinch by Winchester. Wertman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Winchester looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Winchester manages to get back to half guard. Wertman lands with a punch from half guard. Wertman is thwarting Winchester's attempts to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wertman tries to pass to full mount but Winchester defends it. Winchester trying to control from the bottom.
Wertman is pressing down on Winchester's thigh, looking to free his foot. Winchester is holding on for now. Wertman is thwarting Winchester's attempts to control the position. Winchester is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wertman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Wertman throws a head kick but Winchester moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Winchester shoots and misses and Wertman counters with a stiff right hand. Wertman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Winchester keeps the fight on the outside. Winchester throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Wertman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Winchester as he jumps to the side. Winchester throws a sloppy head kick and Wertman moves out of range easily. Winchester lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Wertman misses with a head kick.
Wertman stuffs the takedown attempt from Winchester. Winchester gets slowly back to his feet. Wertman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Winchester paws at him with a jab and circles away. Excellent takedown into side control there by Wertman.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Winchester manages to get back to half guard. Wertman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Wertman wants to pass the guard but Winchester is defending well. Wertman is looking to take a break and control but Winchester is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Winchester trying to control but Wertman postures up.
Winchester is trying to get back to full guard. Winchester is controlling Wertman's position as best he can from this difficult position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Wertman dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Wertman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Wertman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Winchester has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wertman has managed to get both his arms back between Winchester's legs - danger averted. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wertman accidentally thumps the mat. Wertman stands up and waves to Winchester to follow him. A good leg kick by Winchester. Wertman is breathing heavily. Winchester is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wertman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Winchester decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Winchester looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Wertman is not content to let Winchester control the position.

Winchester wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Wertman uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Winchester pushing down on Wertman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Winchester seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wertman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Winchester is controlling the pace.

Winchester tries to avoid it but Wertman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Winchester to the ground. Winchester escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Winchester lands a big head kick that sends Wertman tumbling to the mat! Winchester takes a step backwards and waves Wertman back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Brendan Wertman has been cut. Winchester closes the distance and pushes Wertman back into the cage. Winchester jumps guard but Wertman stands there with Winchester around his waist. Winchester gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Winchester scores with a decent looking hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Winchester thumps Wertman with a low kick. Wertman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wertman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Winchester gets slowly back to his feet. Winchester keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wertman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winchester swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wertman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Wertman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wertman landing with the ground and pound. Winchester managing to control the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wertman looking to pass the guard.
