PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pterion Sinistra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pterion Sinistra was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Phil Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pterion Sinistra!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson moves in looking to clinch but Sinistra pushes him off.
Anderson throws a front kick aimed at Sinistra's knee but Sinistra avoids it well.
Sinistra throws a shot from downtown. Anderson moves away and avoids it.
Sinistra throws a series of punches but Anderson avoids them all with ease.

Anderson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sinistra fails to land with a series of punches.
Anderson tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Anderson throws a half hearted mid kick.

Sinistra is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Anderson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sinistra circles away.
Pterion Sinistra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sinistra swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Anderson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sinistra's waist but Sinistra gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Anderson off to one side.
The crowd cheers as Sinistra lands an impressive looking overhand right. Anderson doesn't seem phased though.
Anderson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Sinistra missing with a left hand there. Anderson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Sinistra gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Anderson passes Sinistra's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Anderson is working for a submission of some sort.
Sinistra is trying to stand up here but Anderson is controlling him well.

Anderson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sinistra is just riding it out for now. Anderson eventually gives up the hold.
Anderson is breathing heavily.
Sinistra looks like he's trying to stand up.
Anderson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sinistra does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Anderson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sinistra really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Anderson prevents Sinistra from standing back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sinistra lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Anderson circles away quickly and effectively.
Sinistra will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sinistra tries to clinch
and Anderson counters with an outside leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Anderson.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sinistra throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sinistra lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Anderson circles away quickly and effectively.
Anderson ducks under a wild hook from Sinistra.
Sinistra throws a series of punches but Anderson avoids them all with ease.
Some wild striking there from Sinistra.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Anderson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sinistra looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson tries to score with some ground and pound. Sinistra controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Anderson passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Sinistra!

Anderson thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Sinistra avoids a series of strikes thrown by Anderson.

Anderson has control of Sinistra's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sinistra regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Anderson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Sinistra is trying to stand.
Anderson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sinistra is looking to escape.
Anderson throwing strikes here but Sinistra is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Sinistra's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Anderson working for a guillotine from mount but Sinistra is in no mood to give up.

Anderson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sinistra can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Anderson moves to back control.

Sinistra defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.

Sinistra got a little sloppy there for a moment and Anderson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sinistra has managed to get both his arms back between Anderson's legs - danger averted.

Anderson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sinistra.

Sinistra fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sinistra moves out of range of the body kick from Anderson.

Sinistra closes the distance and clinches.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Anderson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sinistra has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Anderson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Sinistra misses with a wild combination.

Pterion Sinistra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Anderson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
