The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendosa is looking to improve his position.
Roberts seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Mendosa works his way to full guard. Good work.
Roberts thows a big elbow that misses.
Mendosa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roberts cracks Mendosa with a solid left hand.
Roberts postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Roberts throwing strikes from guard but Mendosa blocks nicely.
Mendosa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Roberts is controlling an arm, preventing Mendosa from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roberts can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mendosa throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Roberts has his hands clasped together but Mendosa breaks the hold and Roberts is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Mendosa!
