Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bass Rutten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joshua Riddick! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riddick tries to close the distance and clinch but Rutten swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Rutten swats away the attempt to clinch by Riddick. Riddick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rutten paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rutten lands a left and a right that send Riddick crashing to the mat, dazed. Rutten thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Joshua Riddick has been cut. Riddick wants to clinch. Rutten throws a series of punches but Riddick moves out of range. Riddick wants to clinch. Rutten throws a series of punches but Riddick avoids them all with ease. Rutten scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. This has been an exciting period of action! Riddick tries to clinch but Rutten is having none of it. Rutten misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rutten keeps the fight on the outside. Riddick tries to clinch up. Rutten looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. The fight stays on the outside here - Riddick looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Riddick tries to clinch up.

Rutten is breathing heavily. Riddick tries to clinch but Rutten moves out of range. Rutten throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Riddick tries to close the distance and clinch but Rutten swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Some wild striking there from Rutten.
Riddick is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rutten avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Riddick tries to clinch up. Riddick wants to clinch up but Rutten keeps it at a distance. Riddick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rutten swats him away and circles back towards the center. Riddick tries to clinch up but Rutten circles away and keeps his distance. Joshua Riddick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Riddick drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Riddick working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Riddick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rutten keeps working. Riddick wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rutten, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riddick tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Riddick goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rutten has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Riddick but great work by Rutten. Rutten decides to stand up, so the ref orders Riddick to his feet. Riddick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rutten swats him away and circles back towards the center. Riddick clinches with his opponent.
Riddick lands a body shot in the clinch.
Riddick lands a nice knee to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riddick misses with a hook from the clinch. Knees in the clinch landing for Riddick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Riddick connects with a nasty looking knee right to Rutten's face.
Riddick manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Rutten avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Riddick is looking for a triangle but Rutten pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Riddick has his foot on Rutten's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rutten works his way back into a safe position though. Riddick looking for a guillotine here but Rutten defends easily.
Rutten thows a big elbow that misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Riddick has a closed guard, preventing Rutten from standing up. Riddick is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joshua Riddick dominated that round. The cut man is working on Joshua Riddick's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Rutten fails with a takedown attempt. Riddick tries to clinch up but Rutten circles away and keeps his distance. Riddick misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rutten.
Bass Rutten is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Riddick closes the distance and pushes Rutten back into the cage. Riddick tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rutten smiles and moves away.
Riddick doesn't manage to clinch there - Rutten circles away.
Riddick fails in his attempt to clinch. Rutten fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Riddick manages to avoid it. Rutten tries for a takedown but Riddick circles away easily and Riddick counters with a nice double leg into guard. Rutten trying to keep a closed guard but Riddick is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Riddick drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rutten manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Riddick has Rutten in his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riddick had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rutten defends it easily. Riddick is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rutten rolls with it to try and escape but Riddick cranks on the arm and Rutten is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
