Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trent Severn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Jaa! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Severn throws a body kick that misses. Jaa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jaa shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Severn rushes Jaa and presses him up against the cage. Jaa pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Severn wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jaa has him pressed against the cage. Jaa manages to break the clinch.
Severn throws a nice outside leg kick. Severn moves into the clinch successfully.
Jaa is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Jaa manages to break the clinch.
Jaa throws a body kick the misses and Severn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Severn. Severn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jaa misses with an uppercut. Severn saw that one coming. Nice jab there from Severn. Severn misses the shot to the body. Severn takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That's one minute gone in the round. Severn has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. With the fighters up against the cage, Jaa throws an elbow but misses. Jaa manages to break the clinch.
Jaa tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Severn counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Severn lands with a straight right. Jaa didn't see that one coming. A combination from Jaa does no damage. Jaa tries to clinch and Severn counters with a right hand to the body. Jaa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Severn manages to avoid it. Jaa moves out of range as Severn throws a body kick.
Severn has closed the distance and engaged Jaa in a clinch.
Jaa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jaa tries to clinch but Severn moves away and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Jaa throws a combination that misses and Severn counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jaa turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Tony Jaa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jaa tries to clinch up and Severn counters with a thumping low kick. Jaa misses with a body shot
and Severn counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Jaa looks gassed! Jaa avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Severn dives in and grabs Jaa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jaa pushes down on Severn's head and hops out. Jaa moves out of range of the body kick from Severn.
Jaa closes the distance looking to clinch and Severn counters with a nice uppercut. Jaa throws a leg kick but Severn sees it coming and moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jaa tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Severn thows a left - swing and a miss! Jaa tries to clinch but fails miserably and Severn counters with a head kick. That will keep Jaa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Nice body kick there by Severn. Severn clinches up against the cage. Severn wants to get back to striking at distance but Jaa won't allow it.
Jaa lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Jaa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Severn's efforts to push away. Jaa is trying to maintain a safe position but Severn gets an underhook and turns Jaa into the cage. Severn tries to break free but Jaa pushes him back against the cage. Severn is looking to break free of the clinch but Jaa has double underhooks. Severn can't break the clinch.
Jaa lands an elbow that stopped Severn in his tracks for a moment. Jaa creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Severn's defenses. Severn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jaa closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Jaa throws a body kick the misses and Severn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jaa won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Severn trying to control the action but Jaa is working from the bottom. Severn cracks Jaa with an elbow. That is naaassty. Severn scores with punches from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Severn lands a nice forearm strike. Jaa is pushing Severn's head away, looking to escape. Severn manages to hold on to the position though. Severn scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jaa to see if he's OK. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Severn content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Severn works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Trent Severn dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Jaa ducks right into an uppercut from Severn. Severn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jaa.
Severn tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Jaa throws a lazy head kick and Severn counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Jaa throws an elbow that misses.
Jaa keeps control of Severn as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Severn manages to break the clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Severn. That's going to slow Jaa down. Severn keeps Jaa at a distance using the push kick. Jaa checks a leg kick. Jaa is breathing heavily. Jaa throws a nice looking combination but Severn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Severn misses with a low kick. Jaa misses with a head kick.

Tony Jaa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jaa looks to land a left hand but Severn moved out of range nicely. Severn closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Jaa landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Severn looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Jaa tries to break free but Severn pushes him back against the cage. Severn wants to get back to striking at distance but Jaa won't allow it.
Severn takes an elbow to the forehead. With the fighters up against the cage, Jaa throws an elbow but misses. Severn has had enough of the clinch but Jaa keeps him there for the moment. Severn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Jaa keeps control of Severn as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Severn manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Severn throws a jab but it's blocked by Jaa. Severn rushes Jaa and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Severn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jaa tries to clinch but fails miserably and Severn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Severn drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jaa gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Severn tries to break free but Jaa pushes him back against the cage. Jaa throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jaa comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. A frustrated look appears on Severn's face as he tries to break the clinch. Severn tries to break the clinch but Jaa is controlling the position. Severn is stalling here.

Severn moves out of range as Jaa strikes. The fight stays on the outside here - Severn looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jaa tries to clinch up and Severn counters with a low kick, right behind Jaa 's knee. Severn looks to land a body kick but Jaa moved away. Jaa tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Jaa misses with a looping right. Severn blocks a leg kick. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Severn here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Jaa scores with a jab. Severn acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Jaa clinches but Severn breaks the clinch and Severn counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jaa closes the distance but Severn moves to the side and Severn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. A frustrated look appears on Jaa's face as he tries to break the clinch. Jaa creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Jaa lands a hook that snaps the head of Severn backwards. Severn is trying to break the clinch but Jaa is controlling him. Jaa misses with a hook from the clinch. Severn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A head kick by Jaa misses and Severn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jaa tries to clinch up and Severn counters with an inside leg kick. Jaa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Severn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Severn is trying to force a seperation but Jaa has the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Trent Severn dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jaa thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Severn if he has to take too many more of those.

Tony Jaa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jaa clinches but Severn breaks the clinch and Severn counters with a good, hard body kick but Jaa shrugs it off. Jaa tries a low kick but Severn avoids it. Severn lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Jaa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jaa throws a chopping leg kick but Severn manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Severn fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Severn throws a sloppy head kick and Jaa moves out of range easily. Jaa moves forwards but Severn connects with a nice, crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Severn clinches. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Severn. Jaa pushes off an throws an elbow but Severn leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Severn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A solid leg kick lands there for Severn.

A telegraphed right hand from Jaa misses the target. Severn throws a leg kick that misses. A low kick from Jaa misses and Severn makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Severn will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Severn tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jaa is able to avoid easily. Severn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jaa doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Severn instigates a clinch. Jaa has Severn pressed against the cage, preventing Severn from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Severn looks to throw a body kick and Jaa makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Nice sprawl there from Jaa as Severn shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trent Severn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jaa gets caught flat footed, as Severn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Jaa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Severn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tony Jaa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Trent Severn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jaa looking to control.
And that's the end of the fight! Trent Severn showed his dominance in that final round. Well Severn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
