The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernie drives through and clinches with Saint Pierre against the cage.
The referee calls for Bernie to work.
Bernie receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Saint Pierre with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Saint Pierre manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Saint Pierre will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bernie sitting in guard here, content to control.
Saint Pierre is pulling down on Bernie's head. It's preventing any offense from Bernie, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Saint Pierre has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bernie off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Bernie counters with a nice body shot.

so Bernie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bernie's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Bernie connects with a couple of short punches.
Bernie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saint Pierre swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bernie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Saint Pierre works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bernie's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Saint Pierre tries to clinch but Bernie moves away
and Bernie counters with a takedown into side control.
Bernie tries to score with some ground and pound. Saint Pierre controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Saint Pierre is trying to improve his position.
Bernie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saint Pierre keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bryan Bernie dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Saint Pierre rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bernie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Saint Pierre wants to clinch
and Bernie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saint Pierre won't be happy with that.
Bernie goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Saint Pierre has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bernie but great work by Saint Pierre.
Saint Pierre throwing strikes but Bernie manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Bernie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Saint Pierre has escaped the position, nice work there.
Saint Pierre is looking for a sweep.
Saint Pierre is not content to let Bernie control the position.

Bernie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Saint Pierre knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bernie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Saint Pierre will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Bernie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saint Pierre keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bernie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Saint Pierre, who protects the arm well.
Saint Pierre wants to control but Bernie postures up.

Bernie tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Bernie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Bernie has hold of Saint Pierre's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Saint Pierre tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Bernie cranks the arm and Saint Pierre screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Saint Pierre, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
