1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Caval! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caval throws out a powerful jab.
It looks like Nathan Roberts has been cut. Roberts closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Caval did well to prevent Roberts getting side control. Caval is looking for a sweep. Roberts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Caval is looking to control Roberts's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Caval avoid being mounted? Roberts throwing shots but Caval is blocking nicely. Roberts seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Caval does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Roberts wants to pass the guard but Caval is defending well. Roberts missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Roberts is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Caval has eaten all the pies! Roberts works his foot free and advances to mount. Roberts has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caval is looking to improve his position but Roberts isn't that keen on the idea. Caval is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Caval wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Roberts keeps control of the position as Caval tries to break free.
Roberts punches the canvas rather than the man. Caval covering up well under a barage of strikes. Caval looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. A lull in the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Caval trying to control but not successfully. Roberts throwing sloppy strikes. Roberts is hanging on to Caval's back as he tries to escape.
Caval prevents Roberts from getting a body triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Caval wants to control his opponent's hands but Roberts gets his hands free. Good control from Roberts. Roberts scores with strikes from the back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Caval staying busy and making it hard for Roberts to control. I really don't envy Caval right now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A lull in the action here.
Roberts avoiding Caval 's attempts to control his hands. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Roberts scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Roberts looks for a takedown but Caval sprawls well. Nathan Roberts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roberts gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Caval. Caval lands a jab-cross combination. Caval scores with a crisp jab that stopped Roberts in his tracks. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Caval, as that shot connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Roberts gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Caval.
Nathan Roberts's cut is getting worse. Caval lands with a hook. Roberts tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Caval misses with a few strikes there.

Roberts shoots in but Caval avoids the takedown attempt easily. Caval lands a jab-cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caval cracks Roberts with an open hand slap.
Nathan Roberts's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Caval scores to the head and body with a nice combination! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Caval. Caval connects with a right hand. Roberts shakes it off. Caval bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Roberts's head.
Jeez, Nathan Roberts's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Caval uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Roberts has time to react. Caval connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Caval lands a glancing blow to the side of Roberts's head. Shane Caval seems to be getting the better of the standup. Caval swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Roberts.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Nathan Roberts's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
