Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ground Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shao Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ground Pound!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shao Khan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pound swats away the attempt to clinch by Khan.
Khan misses with a straight left.
Pound avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pound ducks under a wild hook from Khan.
Khan misses with an uppercut.
Pound throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Khan throws a hook but Pound avoids it easily.
Khan swings away with a body shot that misses
and Pound makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Khan looks to land a left hand but Pound moved out of range nicely.
Pound ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Khan moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pound closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Khan is trying to control Pound's posture but Pound avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Khan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Khan is looking for a sweep.
Pound will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Khan wants to control but Pound postures up.
The referee asks Pound politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pound prefers to stall for the moment though.

Pound knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Khan on the ground.
Pound is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Khan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Pound is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Khan will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Pound is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pound seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Khan for as long as he can get away with.

Shao Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pound is looking to wear down Khan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Pound fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.

The fighters are battling for position here. Khan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Khan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pound is controlling him.

Pound's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Khan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pound's guard.
Pound wants to sweep but no luck.
Khan is fighting to break Pound's control of his arms but Pound is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Khan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pound is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Pound on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pound tries to get out of the position.

Khan throws a hook to the side of Pound's head but Pound sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Pound counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Pound got a little sloppy there for a moment and Khan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pound has managed to get both his arms back between Khan's legs - danger averted.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pound, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
