Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abe Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinji Uto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Abe Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Uto!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas staying out of range there.
Abe Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Uto moves in looking to clinch but Thomas pushes him off.
Thomas throws a hook to the side of Uto's head but Uto sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Uto is looking to land body kicks.
Uto fails in his attempt to clinch.
Uto tries to clinch up but Thomas circles away and keeps his distance.
Thomas keeps the fight on the outside.
Thomas throws the left hand but Uto avoids the punch easily.
Thomas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Thomas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Uto, pushing him back against the cage.

Thomas gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Uto can do anything to dispel that myth.

Uto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Thomas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Uto won't be happy with that.
Thomas cracks Uto with a big right hand but Uto just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Uto is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Thomas throwing strikes but Uto manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Thomas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Thomas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Uto is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Thomas walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Uto but Uto pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shinji Uto is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Uto pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

and Thomas counters by clinching up.

Uto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thomas lands a really nice looking cross but Uto seems unphased.

Uto is looking to stand up but Thomas isn't so interested in that idea.

Uto has hold of Thomas's hands but Thomas slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Uto is staying active underneath Thomas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Uto tries to break free but Thomas pushes him back against the cage.

Thomas lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Uto uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Thomas has time to react.
Thomas lands a nice hook to Uto's body. Uto takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Uto looks like he's trying to stand up.

Thomas is stalling here. Uto is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Thomas seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Uto has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Uto tries to stand but Thomas is controlling from the bottom.
Thomas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Uto manages to get himself to full guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Thomas connects with a nice short shot to Uto's temple.
Abe Thomas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Thomas is keen to just control but Uto is a slippery customer.
Thomas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Thomas wants to free his trapped foot but Uto is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thomas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
