PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nielsen Daniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nielsen Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brad Connor!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor tries to bum rush Daniel with a series of wild strikes but Daniel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Daniel shoots for a double leg takedown but Connor sprawls well. He's pushed Daniel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Daniel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Connor.
Connor thows a body shot but no joy.
Connor loads up on a big right hand but Daniel slips the punch.
Daniel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Connor misses with an uppercut. Daniel saw that one coming.
Brad Connor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Connor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Daniel circles away quickly and effectively.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Connor tries to avoid it but Daniel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Connor to the ground. Connor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nielsen Daniel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Connor throws a series of punches but Daniel avoids them all with ease.

Horrible takedown by Daniel or perhaps it was just good defense by Connor which made him look bad.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniel stands and throws Connor's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Daniel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Connor, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Brad Connor just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Daniel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Connor!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Connor tries to reverse the position but Daniel maintains control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Daniel is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Connor has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Connor!

Connor fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Daniel manages to avoid it.

Daniel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Daniel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Daniel drops back looking for a leg! Connor is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Connor manages to kick Daniel off! Daniel jumps back into Connor's guard.

Daniel drops back, looking for a kneebar! Connor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Connor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Connor!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Connor scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Daniel to see if he's OK.
The referee asks Connor politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Connor prefers to stall for the moment though.

Daniel ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Brad Connor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Daniel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Daniel jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Connor manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Connor is looking to regain half guard here but Daniel keeps moving and retains side control.

Daniel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Connor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Daniel tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Connor is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Daniel's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Daniel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Connor manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Daniel has Connor in his guard.
Connor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

I would just about give that final round to Brad Connor.
I think Connor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
