PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sev Kritzkiy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Midas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kritzkiy's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Rasputin by Boney M. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sev Kritzkiy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Seth Midas!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Midas tries to clinch but Kritzkiy is having none of it.
Midas shoots in looking for a takedown. Kritzkiy tries to sprawl out of it but Midas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kritzkiy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Midas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kritzkiy but Kritzkiy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Horrible takedown by Midas or perhaps it was just good defense by Kritzkiy which made him look bad.
Sev Kritzkiy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seth Midas.

Kritzkiy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Midas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Midas is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Midas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Midas can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Midas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kritzkiy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Midas misses with a takedown attempt

Midas tries to pull guard but Kritzkiy holds him up against the cage and eventually Midas drops back down to his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Kritzkiy's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kritzkiy has had enough of the clinch but Midas keeps him there for the moment.

Midas is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kritzkiy can't fight it off and eventually Midas manages to take the fight to the floor. Kritzkiy looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kritzkiy looking to sit in guard and control but Midas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kritzkiy here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
