Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Brand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bova comes to the ring accompanied by I came to bring the pain!. Brand is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Russell Brand and Katie Perry. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Bova! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Russell Brand! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bova blocks a head kick by Brand.
Bova gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Brand to score an easy takedown into full guard. Brand is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Brand wants to control from the top but Bova keeps moving. Brand is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Brand being controlled here momentarily. Brand throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bova is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Brand tries to free his leg and advance position but Bova is retaining full guard. Bova striking off his back but it's not causing Brand any problems. Brand with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brand tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Brand is looking to clinch. Brand tries for a takedown but Bova sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Brand shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bova sprawls well. Bova wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brand gets slowly back to his feet. Brand is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Brand decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Brand is looking to take a break and control but Bova is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Brand controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brand seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bova does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Brand moves into full mount! Bova won't be happy about that! Brand can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bova is looking to escape. Brand blocks Bova's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Brand trying to control but Bova is having none of it. A nice elbow there by Brand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Russell Brand dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Brand is looking to clinch but Bova is avoiding it.
Brand tries to close the distance and clinch but Bova swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice cross by Brand. Bova avoids a kick to the body.
Brand moves in looking to clinch but Bova pushes him off. Bova shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brand's guard. Brand trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Brand trying to keep a closed guard but Bova is proving a slippery customer.
Brand is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bova is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bova with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Bova distracts Brand with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Bova throws a strike but Brand rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Bova working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brand doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brand manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Brand is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Brand preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bova keeping moving, preventing Brand from controlling successfully. Brand tries to stand but Bova is controlling from the bottom. Brand slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Brand pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bova is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brand content to stall in guard here. Bova will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Brand lands a head kick. Bova smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Brand doesn't succeed with the takedown and Bova decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Brand's guard. Brand not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bova postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bova loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bova drops back looking for a leg! Brand is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brand manages to kick Bova off! Bova jumps back into Brand's guard. Bova might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bova throwing strikes but missing. Bova trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tony Bova dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Brand doesn't succeed with the takedown and Bova counters with a nice double leg into guard. Brand manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bova manages to get himself to full guard.
Brand looking to sit in guard and control but Bova gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Brand has momentary wrist control but Bova slips an elbow through the middle. Bova has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bova stops Brand from standing up. Brand looking for a sweep. Not yet Brand, not yet. Brand takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Bova is working Brand over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bova in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bova connects with a couple of short punches. Bova has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Brand to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bova is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Brand pulls down on the head and he's put Bova to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Russell Brand!
