Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Wayne Parr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Aruba! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A quick uppercut on the inside from Parr. Parr unloads a knee to the mid-section. Aruba lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Parr misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Aruba.
Parr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Aruba shoots for a double leg takedown but Parr sprawls well. He's pushed Aruba's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Parr tries to clinch up but Aruba circles away and keeps his distance. Parr is looking to clinch but Aruba is avoiding it.
Aruba shoots in but no luck this time. Parr throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Aruba. Parr chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Nice sprawl there from Parr as Aruba shoots in. John Wayne Parr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Aruba. Parr has taken the fight to the clinch.

Aruba pulls Parr into guard.
Parr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aruba works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Parr postures up in Aruba's guard and throws a big left but Aruba blocks it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aruba throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Aruba looks gassed! Parr wants to stand but Aruba is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aruba working for a triangle but Parr defends it easily.
Parr wants to get up but he can't break Aruba's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Parr trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Aruba is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Parr wants to stand but Aruba is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Aruba had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Parr is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Aruba Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Parr's back instead. Parr is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Parr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aruba on the ground. Parr defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Aruba's arms. Parr controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Aruba has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Parr is defending well but eventually Aruba manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Parr has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
