PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between jo Blade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blade kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is tiny tempah pass out. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, jo Blade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Calvin Carver!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blade tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carver swivels and escapes.

Carver shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blade manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Blade controls Carver momentarily but Carver frees himself.

Carver thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Blade is working an open guard so Carver takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Carver misses with an attempted mid kick.

Carver closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carver lands in his opponent's guard.
Carver is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Carver trying to control but Blade is working from the bottom.
Carver would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Blade is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carver wanted to stand there but Blade had control of the position.
Blade is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Carver has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Blade is proving hard to escape from.

Carver gets to his feet - Blade follows without any prompting.
Blade tries for a takedown but Carver circles away easily

and Carver counters with a nice double leg into side control. Blade won't be happy with that.
Blade is breathing heavily.

You can see the frustration on Blade's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Blade is looking to reverse the position.
Blade throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Carver is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Blade will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Carver stands up and beckons Blade to his feet.
Carver motions for Blade to come forward. Carver throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Blade counters with a single leg into guard. Carver didn't expect that.

Carver scrambles and gets back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Carver makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Carver closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carver has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Blade!
Carver fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Calvin Carver has got the better of the ground game so far.
Blade wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carver working for a submission but Blade is keeping him at bay.
Carver lands with some strikes.
Blade is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Carver lands a big shot there that rocks Blade but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carver looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Carver cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Blade defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Carver.

Carver is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Blade can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Blade is trying desperately to improve position.

Carver cracks Blade with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Blade is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Carver lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Calvin Carver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Carver closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Blade to the mat! Blade manages to get full guard.

Carver stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Carver throws a head kick but Blade moves out of range.

Carver closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

and Carver counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carver won't allow Blade to get back to his feet.

Blade is working an open guard so Carver takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Carver has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Blade wants to stand up but Carver is controlling him.
Carver lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Blade tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Carver misses with a series of wild punches.
Blade tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carver swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carver dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Blade. That did some damage!
Blade fails with the takedown
and Carver counters with a series of strikes. Blade will be more careful next time no doubt.
Blade throws a jab when Carver was well out of range.
Some bone on bone action there as Blade checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Carver misses with a wild combination.
Carver lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Blade takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Blade shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Carver counters with a three punch combo that has Blade backing up. Blade nods at Carver to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for jo Blade. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carver lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Blade keeps the fight on the outside.
Carver darts in trying to clinch
and Blade counters with a left to the body.
Blade shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Carver counters with a three punch combo that has Blade backing up. Blade nods at Carver to acknowledge the strikes.
Carver closes this distance looking for a takedown but Blade circles away.
Blade misses with a double jab

and Carver counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Blade!

Carver goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Blade is on top in guard.
Carver is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Blade gets to his feet. Carver looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Blade scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Carver manages to mount him!

Calvin Carver comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carver has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
