Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeff Munster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Carlos Ortega! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munster slips a straight right by Ortega. Ortega keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ortega throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ortega will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ortega misses with a wild body shot. Ortega throws a nice looking combination but Munster bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ortega takes a swing at Munster's ribcage but misses. Ortega misses with a double jab.

Munster gets the takedown into side control. Munster misses with the ground and pound. Munster tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Munster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ortega tries to buck Munster off but Munster is having none of it. Munster working the ground and pound from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega can't do much from the bottom here. Munster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ortega keeps working. Ortega tries to get back to half guard but can't. Munster working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Munster lands a few punches from side control. Ortega is not content to let Munster control the position. Munster tries to advance to mount but Ortega denies him. You can see the frustration on Ortega's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Munster sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ortega is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortega sneaks back into half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ortega is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Munster pulls his head out easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Munster slips a nice elbow through Ortega's hands, connecting with Ortega's forehead.
Ortega is rocked! Munster scores with a big shot! Ortega's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Ortega! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeff Munster!
